June’s community call – Register for our curated networking forum!

For our June community call (and annual mid-year social), we’ll be bringing back our curated networking forum for its fourth annual offering! This is a unique opportunity to connect with others who are nurturing community, collaboration, and connection in a range of organizational settings in STEM.

Our curated networking format involves setting you up with others in the community for one-on-one and small group conversations. Registration for this event has now closed as we’ve reached capacity! If you are interested in being added to a waitlist for the event, please contact katie.pratt@www.cscce.org.

This call is for:

  • Anyone working to build or nurture communities in STEM (whether or not your job title is “community manager!”)
  • Anyone looking for feedback on their community management work
  • Anyone looking for an opportunity to serve as an informal mentor
  • Those who love to network, AND those who find it a little awkward – we take (most of) the awkwardness away by setting you up with people to talk to!

Date: Wednesday, 26 June 2024

Time: 11am EDT / 3pm UTC

What to expect

Participants in CSCCE’s curated networking forums get to meet up to 10 other members of the community in 1-on-1 and small group chats. We intentionally set up your meetings so that you can have conversations of mutual interest, and orchestrate the event so that you’re done after an hour. Hopefully over the course of the hour you think at least once “well, that conversation was too short!” and you follow up afterwards with your new connections.

Unlike our regular calls, registration for this event is required – we put a lot of work into setting up conversations for you, and we can’t easily or intentionally accommodate last minute participation. It’s also OK to register and then cancel – but please give us as much notice as possible so we can re-assign your 1-on-1s before the call.

An opportunity to leave us a tip and support ongoing CSCCE CoP programming!

Because this call is so labor intensive, we encourage you to leave a tip via CSCCE’s online donation portal. You can give us a one off donation or decide to set up a recurring one. We’re striving to keep all of our core programming for the CSCCE community of practice open to anyone who wants to join, so your financial support will help make that possible. Thank you!

June’s call

ABSTRACT

Join June’s community call to:

  • Meet other STEM community managers
  • Let us know what you’d like to see in terms of community calls, tools trials, and related community programming over the next six months
  • Take a break from the norm!

How to join

June’s call will take place on 26 June 2024, at 11am EDT / 3pm UTC

Our calls are hosted in Zoom – registrants will receive the Zoom link prior to the event.

Video or not? You’re welcome to turn on your webcam if you like but fine if you prefer just to use audio.

Our community calls generally last 90 minutes to allow time for discussion, but this month we’ll be keeping it to 60 minutes. We understand that virtual meetings have a tendency to overrun and overlap, so please don’t feel sheepish about arriving late or leaving early. We’d love to see you either way!

Captioning is available for CSCCE community calls (read more about our approach to Zoom’s AI-based transcription services), and we make every effort to ensure that our slide decks are screen-readable.

Please note: We won’t be recording this month’s call, as all of the action will be taking place in multiple breakout rooms!

ADDITIONAL INFO ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY CALLS

Our community calls usually take place on the third Wednesday of every month at 11am Eastern, but occasionally times and dates vary depending on speaker availability so please check our calendar of events.

Wonder what we’ve talked about in previous calls? The archive listings can be found here, with select recordings available on YouTube.
