CSCCE x Wilson Center Community Profiles

In 2021, in our first collaboration around the CSCCE Community Profiles project, we worked with staff from the Wilson Center Science and Technology Innovation Program to create a special collection of profiles exploring the hardware and open science ecosystem.

Background

This collaboration grew out of the Wilson Center’s desire to understand the open science hardware ecosystem, and how the communities within that ecosystem function and interconnect. We worked with members of their Science and Technology Innovation Program staff to tailor our community profiles survey, and then conducted the research and profile creation in the same way we created previous profiles for members of the CSCCE community of practice.

Acknowledgements

CSCCE staff Katie Pratt and Lou Woodley were involved in all stages of the project including project management, survey and profile design, data translation, profile creation, copy editing and communications.

Sara Kobilka, an independent contractor, gathered data from participants.

Wilson Center staff were led by PI, Alison Parker and included: Alex Long, Alexandra Novak, Anne Bowser, and Ashley Schuett.

Future profiles collections

We produce a round of approximately 10 – 15 community profiles roughly once a year for members of our community of practice, however we are also able to create custom profiles for clients, as we did here for the Wilson Center. If you are interested in exploring what that might look like for your organization, please do get in touch: info@www.cscce.org.
