For the fifth year running, our June community call (and annual mid-year social) will be an opportunity to network with other members of the CSCCE community of practice!
We’ll once again be offering our curated networking forum – and as an added bonus this year, we’ll also be publishing the instructions and template documents we use to run the event! So, whether you’ve been before and want to be the first to snag your free guidebook, or this is your first time joining a CSCCE community call, we hope you’ll join us for an hour of one-on-one and small group conversations with other community managers in STEM!
Please register for the event, and let us know who you’d be particularly interested in meeting, using this brief registration form. The deadline for registration: Friday, 6 June 2025.
This call is for:
- Anyone working to build or nurture communities in STEM (whether or not your job title is “community manager!”)
- Anyone looking for feedback on their community management work
- Anyone looking for an opportunity to serve as an informal mentor
- Community managers looking for a new event format that supports community networking
- Those who love to network, AND those who find it a little awkward – we take (most of) the awkwardness away by setting you up with people to talk to!
Date: Wednesday, 18 June 2025
Time: 11am EDT / 3pm UTC
Registration form: Let us know you’re coming, and who you would like to meet! You’ll receive a calendar invite and Zoom link after completing the form.

What to expect
Participants in CSCCE’s curated networking forums get to meet up to 10 other members of the community in 1-on-1 and small group chats. We intentionally set up your meetings so that you can have conversations of mutual interest, and orchestrate the event so that you’re done after an hour. Hopefully over the course of the hour you think at least once “well, that conversation was too short!” and you follow up afterwards with your new connections.
Unlike our regular calls, registration for this event is required – we put a lot of work into setting up conversations for you, and we can’t easily or intentionally accommodate last minute participation. It’s also OK to register and then cancel – but please give us as much notice as possible so we can re-assign your 1-on-1s before the call.
Run your own curated networking forum!
Over the years, several attendees have asked how to re-create this event. We’re finally getting all of the necessary materials into publishable form, and by the time we host the social this year, we’ll have a guidebook for free download, as well as access to the templates we use behind the scenes to administer a successful event!
If your plans change…
If you register for this month’s community call, but in the end realize you won’t be able to attend, please let us know ASAP! This event relies on setting up multiple short, one-on-one chats that we carefully set-up and prepare for. If even a couple of people don’t show up, for whatever reason, it impacts multiple attendees whose program of meetings no longer makes sense. We totally understand that sometimes life happens, but even an hour’s notice makes a huge difference, and gives us time to adjust the agenda accordingly.
Support ongoing CSCCE CoP programming
While we’re offering this event (and the new “how to” guidebook) to you for free, our community programming is not currently funded through an ongoing grant. As we strive to keep CSCCE community programming free of charge and open to all, we encourage you to leave a tip via CSCCE’s online donation portal. Thank you!
June’s call
ABSTRACT
Join June’s community call to:
- Meet other STEM community managers
- Try out a new event format (and get the instructions to run a similar event for your community)
- Take a break from the norm!
How to join
June’s call will take place on 18 June 2025, at 11am EDT / 3pm UTC
Our calls are hosted in Zoom – register before 6 June and you’ll receive a calendar invite and Zoom link in your inbox.
Video or not? You’re welcome to turn on your webcam if you like but fine if you prefer just to use audio.
Our community calls generally last 90 minutes to allow time for discussion, but this month we’ll be keeping it to 60 minutes. We understand that virtual meetings have a tendency to overrun and overlap, so please don’t feel sheepish about arriving late or leaving early. We’d love to see you either way!
Please note: We won’t be recording this month’s call, as all of the action will be taking place in multiple breakout rooms!
