It’s been a while since we have sent a newsletter, and so, as we re-launch our monthly communications, we wanted to bring you up to date with some changes for the Center for Scientific Collaboration and Community Engagement (CSCCE).

Welcome to our new Communications Director
We have a new home!
Last year we moved to Community Initiatives, a non-profit organization based in California. In terms of our programming and core mission,we remain focused on supporting the professionalization and institutionalization of the role of the scientific community engagement manager. Additionally, weare excited tonow expand in ways that are more community-centric and community-led so that we can continue to serve the variety of groups with which we work.
As part of this next phase of our growth we’re building out a community of practice for scientific community managers. Currently we have more than120 members in a very lively Slack group, where discussions include technology selection for online communities andtips for running online events, plus a work-out-loud channel.
Since November we have hosted monthly community calls to share our work and the work of our Fellows and community of practice members. On our March call, we focused on community ambassador programs, and you can find a recap of the call here. Our April call, taking place on 22 April at 2pm US Eastern Time, will focus on creating inclusive online events, a topic of particular relevance as many communities quickly pivot to online platforms.
Our team isalso expanded along with our programming. We’re delighted to welcome Katie Prattas our Communications Director and Content Archivist. Katie will play a key role in the curation and dissemination of our backlog of resources, so stay tuned over the coming months as we release materials.
