Heuristic processing

A mode of information processing characterized by the use of mental shortcuts, rules of thumb, or simplified decision-making strategies to quickly evaluate information and make judgments. Heuristic processing prioritizes efficiency and speed over thoroughness and accuracy. (Chapter 5, p. 189)*
