How to donate to CSCCE this Giving Tuesday

Next Tuesday, 2 December, is Giving Tuesday – an annual reminder to support the organizations, publications, and individuals that are making a difference in your life. We hope that this Giving Tuesday CSCCE is one of those organizations.

There are a number of ways you can donate to CSCCE – and not all of them are financial! Here are 5 suggestions for how you can support us:

Option 1: Make a donation to CSCCE
One-off or recurring donations made through our website go towards supporting free community programming, including community calls and our Slack workspace. If you would prefer that your donation be used to support our accessibility fund, which allows us to offer discounted places in our training courses, you can indicate that as part of your donation.

Option 2: Commit to joining us for a training session next year
The revenue we generate from selling places on our training courses is increasingly vital to ensuring our sustainability as a nonprofit organization. If you know that you would like to join us for a multi-week course or Mini-workshop next year, let us know so that we can accurately plan ahead! You can also use these forms to let us know you’re interested in our Community Manager Certification Program.

Option 3: Commission us to support your community engagement work
CSCCE staff have decades of experience nurturing communities online and in person, and we offer a range of consulting services. We are currently accepting new clients for 2026, and can work with you to:

Develop your community strategy and conduct member research
Establish and support community programming, including designing and evaluating community champions programs
Select and implement a new technology solution for your community
Audit, update and organize your documentation into a playbook – and support its adoption
Plan and facilitate workshops, meetings, or training sessions for your members or staff team

Option 4: Participate in our community of practice – and join us for our December potluck!
Sharing your expertise and camaraderie is another way you can contribute to CSCCE’s community of practice. If you’re not already a member, you can request an invitation to our Slack workspace, which convenes an international community of 1000+ members. You can also join us in December for our annual end-of-year potluck, and work with us in the new year to co-create new resources, co-host events, and more!

CONNECT WITH THE COMMUNITY

Option 5: Use (and cite!) our free resources
Over the years we’ve developed various frameworks and resources to support your work as community managers, program developers, and collaborative leaders. If you’ve found any of these resources useful, sharing them alongside a testimonial or link back to our website (e.g., in your next conference presentation or on your website) is a great way to help raise CSCCE’s visibility beyond our existing network.

Meet seven new CSCCE-Certified STEM Community Managers

This quarter, Rieley Auger (Global Land Programme), Sophie Bui (National Center for Supercomputing Applications), Yan-Kay Ho (Open Bioeconomy Lab / Reclone Community Network), Allie Lau (American Physical Society), Zoë Leanza (Sage Bionetworks), Johanssen Obanda (Crossref), and Curtis Sharma (Research Data Alliance) all graduated from the CSCCE Community Manager Certification Program! We’ll be celebrating their accomplishments with all program participants at our December Quarterly Skills Share session.

Join us for our annual community potluck

As the end of 2025 draws near, we’re planning a gathering for the CSCCE community that recognizes the ups and downs of the last 12 months, and offers an opportunity for community connection and care. As in years past, the call will be roughly divided into three “courses,” with participants encouraged to “bring a dish to share” – this year, we’re inviting you to bring a “dessert.” Join us on Tuesday, 16 December at 11am EST / 4pm UTC

Birdaro: Training for scientific open-source leaders

We’re in the final few weeks of the pilot cohort of the Birdaro training program, CSCCE’s domain-specific training for leaders of scientific open-source projects considering scaling and sustainability. For 12 weeks, the 60+ participants in the program have been exploring governance and documentation together.
