Socialization tactics

The methods that communities use to help newcomers understand and adapt to the community’s culture, norms, and practices. These tactics guide new members through the process of learning how the community operates and what’s expected of them. These methods can include institutionalized practices (e.g., formal, universal training programs) and more individualized approaches. (Chapter 5, p. 211)*
